I have been deeply enjoying Sara’s brief, succinct movie reviews as she lays them out on a website we both use. I also enormously enjoy interviewing people. So here, a few questions posed to Sara, whom I was hoping to catch on her dental drug spree, but missed the wakeful window…….
INTERVIEW WITH EL DE BERG
T: Sara, I understand you are under the influence of dental work-related painkillers. I am so happy to swoop in and harvest some movie reviews from you at this moment.
S: i could not spell while i was so high. i’m sorry. so i slept it off and had some coconut water and now i’m back.
T: You just saw Star Trek. What did you think?
S: i thought the thing was a truckload of high-budget delight. the plot was interesting, the effects dazzled, fight scenes at dizzying heights abounded. i found everything about it satisfying. once a good script is in hand and there’s a harvest of p-retty people running around in hyper modern militaristic gear including miniskirts, how much can go wrong, really? plus, uhuru was awesome. i love zoe saldana.
T: Describe your interest in the phenomenon of Star Trek.
S: i watched the show when i was a kid. the original with kirk and spock and what not. i vividly remember the episode “the trouble with tribbles”, with all the cute puffy creatures taking over everything. i wanted a tribble for my own very desperately. we had a peeka poo named dinah instead. short for “dinah might the israelite”. meaning jewess, not zionist dog. i digress. i never got into the following generations of star trek. never went to a convention or dressed up. just watched the first hunk of them and that was that. i loved the crew. i feel like this movie really did the show some justice. loves scotty and bones.
T: What are you reading right now?
S: just plowed through all of the sookie stackhouse books and the twilight books. now i am reading don’t let me be lonely and also the complete guide to canning and preserving.
T: Boxers or briefs?
S: hot pants. word.
